BET apologizes to Nicki Minaj after rapper drops out of festival over offensive tweet
The rapper reacted, shall we say badly, to a misjudged humorous tweet posted by the US entertainment channel during Sunday night's awards.
The since-deleted tweet suggested she was "being dragged by her lacefront,” after her rival Cardi B - with whom she has a troubled relationship - picked up best rap album.
Nicki did not care for the wig-based joke and cancelled her headline slot on its annual BET Experience festival in the US this summer.
Her fans took to social media in droves and BET has now issued a grovelling apology to the wounded artist saying the post "should never have been written".
"The post does not reflect how we feel about Nicki", continued the statement. "We deeply apologise for the hurt, disappointment and confusion that this post has caused.
"We apologise to all of her fans. This should have never happened.”
Young Money will no longer be apart of the BET Experience or award show. ???????????? Summer Tour dates dropping soon ????— QUEEN (@NICKIMINAJ February 11, 2019
The rapper has also showed some solidarity with fellow artist Ariana Grande, who pulled out of performing at Sunday's Grammy awards after a disagreement with producer Ken Erlich over what song she could perform.
She branded producers liars after they accused her of struggling to put a performance together for the show.
Now Nicki has said she was "bullied" by producers after falling out with them and promise to tell all in her radio show (below.
I pissed off the same man Ariana just called out for lying. Grammy producer KEN. I was bullied into staying quiet for 7 years out of fear. But I’ll tell my fans the REAL on the next episode of #QueenRadio they deserve the truth.
Also, CONGRATS to everyone who won last night. ???????? https://t.co/YjmoIOPt6o— QUEEN (@NICKIMINAJ February 11, 2019
